Milk recalled due to contamination fears
Consumers in New South Wales are being urged to avoid some brands of eggs and varieties of Coles and Pauls milk which may have been contaminated and could lead to illness.
The NSW Food Authority has advised that firm The Egg Basket is conducting a recall of a range of egg brands including Country fresh eggs, Just Eggs, Chefs Choice free range and Chefs Choice cage free eggs.
The recall is due to the potential presence of microbial (Salmonella Enteritidis).
Salmonella is one of the many possible causes of gastroenteritis and results from ingesting bacteria from contaminated food. Animal faeces containing the salmonella bacteria can be passed to humans.
Infection with salmonella bacteria can lead to fever, vomiting and diarrhoea.
The products have been available for sale from The Egg Basket and Flemington Markets in NSW.
The recalled eggs have use by dates of: 14th June 2019, 20th June 2019, 24th June 2019, 29th June 2019, 5th July 2019, 9th July 2019
The eggs are stamped with code: eb24449.
Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice and should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.
